My Dear People...
| "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy." (Phil 1:3-4) |
As the year 2008 winds down, it is important to remember several important truths: First, God is not finished with us at First Baptist Church. It has been a true joy to learn the rich history of God’s faithfulness as we met Presley Morris, Tom Brown, Doug Davis and Jim Hamilton. Additionally, so many wonderful friends of FBC have stopped by to visit and share how God used FBC to bless and enrich their lives. Fifty years of God’s faithfulness is a good start. Let’s dedicate ourselves afresh to God as we move forward.
Secondly, the year is not over yet. We look forward to our second “Jubilee Sunday” on November 16, 2008. Plan on being a part of this special day as we hope to set high attendance records in both the morning services and Sunday School. Also, we will be dedicating the entire offering to the “Jubilee” fund to help eliminate our current debt.
Also, on November 30 we will have one final special guest as Dr. Ergun Caner of Liberty Baptist Seminary will be with us during the morning services. Dr. Emir Caner was here in June and shared of their childhood in an Islamic home and how God used a young man inviting his friends to church to change their lives with the Gospel. Dr. Ergun Caner is one of America’s most widely sought after speakers and we are honored to have him in our pulpit.
Finally, 2008 is also a major year in the history of our nation. Perhaps, as in no other election, the need for God’s insight and direction is desperately needed. How much time have you spent in prayer about this election? Are you voting based on your Christian convictions and Biblical worldview or just voting? Remember, living in a free country with the privilege of voting and the joy of worshiping freely should not be taken for granted.
See ya Sunday…
In His Service,
Bro. Steve
