Worship Services
| What Should I Expect?
Worship services at First Baptist take place in the multi-purpose building, the one behind the brick church Education Building. The entrance is between the two buildings. There are two Sunday morning services that begin at 8:00am and 10:30am and last approximately one hour. The following is a representative sample of a Sunday morning service: Opening Song A nursery is available in the back of the education building for both bed babies and toddlers and is coordinated by a pediatric nurse. Pre-school church takes place in room L-6 of the Education Building. Children's church takes place in the upstairs of the Worship Center after Children's time with the pastor. |

| What about Wednesday
and Sunday night?
Sunday night is a little more informal time to gather and sing praises to the Lord and listen to teaching on a variety of topics from the pastor, associate pastors, preacher boys from the seminary or special guests. Wednesday night is a good time of activities for all age groups followed by the Crossroads Cafe. The back of the Worship Center is set up like a cafe and a variety of food and desserts are available at minimal cost presented by the Hospitality Team. Choir rehearsal follows under the direction of choir director extraordinaire Donnie Settles. The choir is a special group who enjoys each others' company and preparing special music for worship. Everyone is welcome. |
The
postmodern world that surrounds us yearns for stability, morality,
security, fidelity, faith, hope, and love.
These deep needs can only be met through the One who meets our
deepest needs for Truth.
Let us make sure that the worship services we plan and conduct
present that Truth in all its clarity and beauty and goodness. - Marva J. Dawn, A ROYAL "WASTE" OF TIME: THE SPLENDOR OF WORSHIPING GOD AND BEING CHURCH FOR THE WORLD, Eerdmans Publishing Co., 1999, p. 69. "My friends, church is for
getting a foretaste of the kingdom. It is community that whets our
appetite for new creation. It is where we get a small sliver of the
wedding cake of the feast of the lamb that will be for all of us who enter
eternal life through him. And the communion of the church is the
taste that should linger on our lips as we live for Christ each day." |
